Biblioteca Fort Pienc- Ana María Moix has chosen contemporary architecture and design as the central pillars of its specialisation, given its location at the heart of the Fort Pienc building complex, for which the architect Josep Llinàs received the City of Barcelona Architecture and Urban Planning Award in 2003, the year the library was inaugurated.

To define its collection, 1929 was chosen for its contemporary concept, because that was the year of the Barcelona International Exposition, the birth of rationalism and modernity. New titles are added every year to keep this collection alive and current.
